I have  forgotten how fun it was to work in my art journal. I have had this Mokeskin since last fall and it's pretty plain. I can't believe I've been walking around with such a Blah notebook.  Here is what I did to it last Thursday.  I have never felt so free.      I want to do a little more to them to make them mine.  So, I'm not finished yet. Here is an art journal I made from 140# hot press Fibrano paper years ago.  I drool over this paper.  It feels so good and takes up the paint well.   I made this art journal years ago and never really finished it.  That's how it is for me.  I start a project and then I leave it to go do something else.  I'm like a bat.  Flying everywhere!  I never finished this journal.  Meaning, I never finished binding it but thanks to Teesha Moore  I finished binding it this morning and that collage you see was done this week!  Never throw away your old ...

Oh Goody!!!

Oh how fun to receive ephemera from random people.  Well...not that random.  He knew that I did art and gave my husband this to give to me...   He found a bunch of old paper while fixing up an old house here in New Orleans. He said it was trash to him but maybe I could use it for something.  I say, "Hell Yeah"!  Oh...excuse me.  Sometimes I get carried away.   Check out that ticket from 1876 and that picture of NOLA.  I wonder if the store front still looks the same.  I will have to investigate but I know that statue isn't there anymore.  I also have a Louisiana lottery ticket from the 1800's!  How exciting to receive such a treat.  I kinda have some ideas on how to use this treasure but  you will have to stay tuned to find out.  The creativity has to flow on its own terms.  Mixed Media here I come.   I'm thinking a collaboration is in order.  Hint, hint... So for now I bid you adieu....

Making Time for Creativity

This is the book that I'm currently reading.  It's fun to read about how other artist's manage their time. I have enjoyed it so far.  Thomas Mann, one of NOLA's local artists, gives his tips in there as well as Teesha Moore.  Teesha is one of my most favorite artist. She works with vibrant colors and has been an inspiration when I was art journaling back in the day. Click here to see more of Teesha   I haven't finished all of it but will probably finish it tomorrow amidst all the chaos that's going to be here for all the parades plus Endymion!  Wow! Endymion will be uptown this year.  Yay!  Have a great weekend. Kalaya
