Tuesday's Tool Of The Day

So...it is kind of cold here in NOLA especially when your heater breaks! But have no fear CJ Christina is here!  LOL!!! That was my own inside joke.   In a previous post I talked about the new and improved  Pepe Jump Ring Maker  here   and how frustrated I was with it. Anyway, I was surfing the web (instead of working in the studio...hey it's cold in there) and found this... Made by Keith Lo Bue  This thing is sweeeeeet! So save yourself the money from buying a Pepe Jump Ring Maker  because I am sure this baby works just as well and it is totally  wabi!  ;) ॐ Namaste Kalaya

Wabi-Sabiness

Hola everyone! New Orleans is hunkering down because we are about to get "Wintry Mix".  Whatever that means and in south Louisiana we just do not know how to drive on ice and so great havoc ensues.  The city has decided to shut down.  I know...it's some crazy stuff down here! Anyways... my mother saw some stacking rings I made a couple of weeks ago and requested a set.  So I sat in my studio and thought about texture and a word I wanted to inscribe.  I meditated, sitting there in my chair, and spinning myself in circles until I got dizzy and had to stop.  Oh wait...I digress. Back to the subject. My mind has been preoccupied with wabi-sabi lately and I thought that this is just befitting.  My mom is totally sabi!!! I inscribed the word sabi inside of the silver ring and thus began my journey. Sabi means (in the most simplistic definition)  the beauty or serenity that comes with age, when the life of the object and its impermanence are evidenced in

Feeling Lost

Helloooo 2014! Happy New Year everyone. Yesterday was Freret Market and also my first market of the year.  It was not as big as it usually is but still nice nonetheless.  There is my booth to the left.  Do you see it? Well...here is a close up. The sun poured its rays over me and kept me warm for most of the day.  Good thing because it was cold out there.  I do not know if you can see but my inventory is pretty slim.  I have had a hard time with the creative process these days. I am officially lost! It is the beginning of the new year and a lot of people are making new years resolutions or goals.  I to have a goal, to try to be a little less stressed, eat healthier, and be in the moment.  However, I do feel a little lost, in direction, as far as my art goes.  Where do I go from here?  The studio is cold... she is empty... she is lost... So what does one do you might ask to get that creativity to spark?  Get organized?  Nah!  That is too much
